Is there an Australian address API hosted in Australia?
Yes. Every request is processed in Sydney, or in Melbourne if Sydney is not responding, on infrastructure run by an Australian company. Since 14 October 2026 there is no foreign CDN or offshore edge in the address request path. On 13 October 2026 a DNS change sent some requests through Cloudflare. The API was moved back within about an hour, and every record was DNS only by 14 October; see the Data Residency Attestation. The search log is stored in Australia.
What data does an Australian address API use?
G-NAF, the Geocoded National Address File that Geoscape Australia publishes as open data every quarter. The status page names the release being served.
How is address autocomplete billed?
One address search session is one lookup. Keystrokes within a session are fair use. An abandoned address search is not billed, and a verify that finds no match is not charged. A suburb and postcode search is billed the first time it returns a suggestion.
Does it handle unit numbers and abbreviations like “apt” and “Cct”?
Try these in the demo on the home page. “apt 12 71 Bradleys Head Rd Mosman” returns Unit 12, 71 Bradleys Head Rd, Mosman NSW 2088. “35 Virgin Cct Leppington” returns 35 Bergin Cct, Leppington NSW 2179. “35 bergin circ” returns 35 Bergin Cct. A search that finds nothing is not charged.
Is there a free Australian address API?
Yes. The Free plan is ongoing and has no trial period: 5,000 lookups a month, no card needed. Test keys are also free during an account’s first 15 days. The suburb and postcode API on a live key needs a paid plan. G-NAF attribution is required on every plan.
Are the prices public, in AUD, with GST included?
Yes. Free is $0, Starter is $53.90 a month and Growth is $163.90 a month. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST, itemised on every tax invoice. Enterprise & Government is quoted.
What is verified, and what is not?
Verify checks an address against G-NAF and returns a verdict (verified, corrected, ambiguous or unverified), a status for each field and coordinates. It does not tell you whether Australia Post will deliver to an address. WattleAddr holds no AMAS certification and provides no DPIDs. PO Boxes are unsupported because G-NAF holds physical addresses only.
Is there a suburb and postcode API?
Yes. It suggests suburbs and postcodes and checks that a suburb, state and postcode belong together. It is built from G-NAF, so postcodes are as recorded on G-NAF addresses and can differ from Australia Post’s. Live keys need Starter or above.
What happens to search logs?
You set retention for each workspace, from 7 to 365 days depending on the plan. You can store queries as a keyed hash, which is pseudonymisation and not anonymisation because we hold the key, or store no query text at all.
Is there an SLA and a status page?
A 99.5% monthly uptime commitment with service credits applies to the Enterprise & Government plan, where your Order Form references it. Free, Starter and Growth carry no uptime commitment. The public status page shows the G-NAF release and a daily availability history.
What security assessment do you hold?
None. The infrastructure is architected for IRAP-aligned workloads. WattleAddr holds no certification: no IRAP assessment, no ISO 27001 and nothing equivalent.
Who do I deal with?
RR Sols Pty Ltd t/a WattleAddr, ABN 56 672 722 486, an Australian company with no foreign parent or shareholder. Support is by email, and the contact page lists the addresses.
