What counts as a lookup?
A lookup is one address search session. The autocomplete keystrokes a customer types while finding one address collapse into a single billable lookup. You’re never charged per keystroke.
What happens if I go over?
Starter includes 50,000 lookups a month and Growth 250,000, then overage bills at $2.75 and $1.65 per 1,000 respectively, GST included, with no forced upgrade. The Free tier stops at its 5,000 cap. You’ll see usage and projections in the console well before you get there.
Can I pay by invoice?
Yes — every paid plan is invoiced. We don’t store card details and nothing is automatically debited: we email a tax invoice and you pay it by bank transfer, PayID, or a one-off card payment in the console. Enterprise and Government accounts can also pay against a purchase order.
How does single sign-on work?
Enterprise workspaces can point console sign-in at their own identity provider over OpenID Connect, and require it. See the setup guide.
What uptime do you commit to?
99.5% a month for the API on Enterprise plans, with service credits. Live status and the daily history are on our status page.
Do I need to attribute G-NAF?
Yes. The open G-NAF licence requires a short attribution to Geoscape Australia. We provide the exact wording, and it’s already in these pages’ footer.
Is WattleAddr cheaper than Google Places autocomplete?
For a normal Australian address form, usually yes — but the reason is the billing model, not the sticker price. Google bills an autocomplete session only when that session ends in a Place Details call; a session someone abandons reverts to per-request billing on every keystroke that was typed, and the rates are in US dollars. WattleAddr bills one flat lookup per completed address search, bills nothing for an abandoned one, and quotes in Australian dollars. On Growth, 250,000 lookups is $163.90/month including GST ($149 ex-GST), which is $0.66 per 1,000.
Is there a free Australian address autocomplete API?
Yes. WattleAddr’s Free tier is ongoing rather than a time-limited trial: 5,000 lookups a month, no card required, on the same address data and the same Australian infrastructure as the paid plans. Search-log privacy controls are included on Free too. The underlying G-NAF dataset is itself open data published by Geoscape Australia.
